Yamaha’s updated V8 will feature similar performance wrapped in new graphics and with an extended warranty.
Yamaha has announced an updated version of its venerable F350 V8 outboard.
The new F350C, which will be available in late summer, retains the 5.3L displacement, 60-degree V8 with four valves per cylinder, and double overhead cams of the original F350, which was introduced in 2007. The marine-specific design offers Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT) to optimize the engine’s torque at low and mid-range rpm, as well as sequential multi-point fuel injection. According to the company, the torque curve of the big, naturally aspirated V8 delivers more power and smoother operation compared to a supercharged six-cylinder outboard while retaining the ability of running on regular 89 octane fuel.
The new engine also gets new graphics, which are said to speak to the technology under the cowl. According to a Yamaha press release “the ‘V’ graphic defines the cylinder arrangement, but also denotes the way the engine makes power. The right side of the ‘V’ graphic represents the flatness of the F350C V8 torque curve – the classic marker for consistent, smooth, naturally aspirated V8 power.” Fluffy description or not, the new graphics look sharp.
Further, the new 5.3-litre F350C now comes with five full years of limited warranty coverage.
