Evinrude Donates Engines to University of Wisconsin

Outboard manufacturer Evinrude will power two aquatic research vessels operated by the University of Wisconsin.

Sturtevant, Wisconsin-based outboard engine manufacturer Evinrude has donated outboard engines for use on two research vessels operated by the University of Wisconsin.

The engines were provided as part of Evinrude’s continuing support of local education and preservation of the marine environment. “We are very grateful to the team at Evinrude for their support of our research programs,” said J. Val Klump, associate dean of research and senior director of the university’s School of Freshwater Sciences. “Our faculty and students conduct vital research on topics such as water quality, pollution identification and prevention, and improved fish breeding for urban aquaculture. These projects impact the environment, the economy and the quality of life for millions of people locally and globally, now and for future generations. Our research would not be possible without the support of like-minded and forward-thinking sponsors like Evinrude.”

Founded in 2009, the School of Freshwater Sciences at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee is the only graduate school in North America solely dedicated to freshwater issues, and is the largest water-focused academic research institution on the Great Lakes.
