Summerville, South Carolina-based Scout Boats officially unveiled a pair of new boats last week at the company’s annual dealer conference and business meeting.
Held in Charleston from September 24 to 26 inclusive, the 2016 model year dealer meeting featured the official presentation of the company’s new flagship 420 LXF, a 42-foot luxury offshore fishing model first announced at the 2015 Miami Boat Show that builds upon the success of its 35-foot sibling, the 350 LXF.
Built to take quad 300 or 350 hp outboards, the 15,800-pound 420 LXF boasts a 500-gallon fuel capacity for tremendous range, while its epoxy-Infused hull is said to provide “improved structural stability and reduced the overall weight, combining for unsurpassed performance.”
Scout also revealed an all-new bay boat, the 231 XS. Built for navigating shallow, inshore flats while still managing larger waves during open-water crossings, the 231 XS includes a number of innovative features, including a unique leaning post and a high performance stepped hull design.
This has been a busy year for Scout, which just completed a new 24,000-square-foot addition to its manufacturing plant in Summerville, including a 1,100-square-foot paint booth. Referred to as Plant C, the new addition gives Scout a total of 211,000 square feet of manufacturing space and will be the facility used for construction of the new flagship 420 LXF.
The new plant space will also be used for manufacturing a newly-announced 380 LXF model, to be unveiled in 2016.
