Larson Boat Group will reportedly discontinue its Triumph fishing boat brand and close its Little Falls, Minnesota plant next year.
According to a report published by International Boat Industry, production of the company’s Larson, Larson FX, Larson Escape and Striper brands will move to the Carver/Marquis manufacturing facility in Pulaski, Wisconsin, most likely during the first quarter of 2017. The Triumph brand will cease production at the same time.
Rob Parmentier, Larson Boat Group president and CEO, was quotes as stating “this decision is due to external, global economic influences including adverse economic dynamics and shifting changes within the marine market that require us to consolidate our company’s operations and footprint with our sister organization in Pulaski to continue to be competitive in our ever changing industry.” The company’s 141 employees currently working in Little Falls will be offered positions at the Pulaski plant, located approximately 190 miles away.
The company’s Triumph brand consisted of four models of center console and dual console fishing boats, each built with Ropeline plastic and positioned as being unusually tough. The company gained widespread attention through a series of videos showing the product being tortured in various ways – including its infamous “Bubba Test” clip which showed two men towing the boat to the lake to go fishing, simply dragging the boat behind their truck without using a trailer.
