Yamaha has released a new variant of its 4.2L F300 V6 outboard with fully mechanical controls, aimed squarely at boaters repowering larger offshore powerboats.

“Yamaha Marine is dedicated to providing premium boating experiences for all of our customers, and we believe it’s important to incorporate a variety of choices throughout our product line to meet specific boat applications and customer demands,” said Yamaha marine group president, Ben Speciale. “With this new model, customers now have the choice of mechanical or digital control for the F150, F175, F200, F225, F250 and F300 models.”

With its mechanical linkages that will connect to older steering systems, the Yamaha F300 becomes an attractive engine for repowering older boats, with its fuel efficiency and lighter weight than previous designs. The engine is available in counter-rotating models for multi-engine installations. The mechanical 300 should be available through Yamaha dealers this summer.
